End of Service Dates

Please find details below regarding End of Service Dates:

Hardware

From 31st December 2016 IBM no longer directly supports the following IBM Servers:

–          9406-170

–          9406-800

–          9407-515

–          9408-M25

–          3580-H23

IBM will support these servers under their End of Life Multi-Vendor Scheme. Please contact Mark or Kelly on 01625 548111 for more information about your support options for these servers.

Operating System

Every release of IBM i software has a finite support period and when a software release reaches the end of support date, direct upgrades to subsequent releases are only available for a limited time. These are the recent end of service dates:

–          IBM Extended Support for V5R4 ended 30th September 2017.

–          IBM Extended Support is available for V6R1 until 30th September 2018.

A Technology Refresh is a collection of operating system software that is developed together, packaged together, tested together, and delivered together as a PTF Group for a base release. This spring you will be able to upgrade to new technology refresh versions TR6 and TR7 which will add significant functionality for DB2 for i and enhances IBM i Access Client Solutions.

Fixed Price Upgrade

Life IT have a fixed price upgrade service which is geared to ensuring the success of the upgrade without disrupting your business. It’s a service that draws on the wealth of experience and expertise that comes from undertaking such projects on a regular basis, where our consultants:

–          Co-ordinate delivery of the relevant software from IBM

–          Fully document an implementation plan which details what we’ll do and when

–          Provide end-to-end planning and installation
